Getting Through Hard Times/Resilience Group

The goals of the group would be to coach individuals in the resilience skills and attitudes and to increase their ability to make use of social networking as a source of information and support. The group would make use of the Duct Tape Isn’t Enough with each participant purchasing the manual and would also make use of excerpts from the Duct Tape Isn’t Enough DVDs.

How would it be presented?

The Group would meet on a weekly basis for one hour, making use a combination of a bridge line call and the Internet e.g., website, social networking sites, etc.

Who could benefit from involvement in the group?

The group would be diverse with a variety of individuals who may have sustained a significant loss or who are attempting to meet a significant challenge and all of whom are looking for information, support and new skills.

What would the format be?

The group would be facilitated by a resilience coach. The group could operate like a book club with coaching. Each session would focus on a specific section of the book and would emphasize the development of a specific skill or attitude. Individuals participating in the group would have an opportunity to tell their own stories and share information and provide support. The group would be time limited, 12-14 sessions.

Cost?

An individual participating in the group would buy the Duct Tape Isn’t Enough book and would sign up for a block of coaching sessions, 12-14. Participants would register over the website and pay for the group using a credit card. Cost would be approximately $15-$20 per session with an overall cost of $260-$300 (12-14 sessions).

Who would provide the training?

Individuals who had been trained in the use of the materials and had basic skills in coaching and mentoring, as well as a knowledge of social networking.

How large would the group be?

Twelve to fourteen individuals.
