- American Psychiatric Association This site provides general information about mental disorders and their treatment and offers a brochure series entitled, “Lets Talk Facts.”
- American Psychological Association This is an informational site provided by the American Psychological Association. The site focuses not just on mental disorders and psychological problems, but in general on problems in living in such areas as work and family.
- National Alliance for the Mentally Ill This site is developed and managed by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, one of the largest and most active advocacy organizations for individuals and their families who are affected by mental illness. The focus of the site is on the biological basis of severe mental disorders such as schizophrenia and their treatment.
- National Institute of Mental Health This site provides information on current research and programs related to mental health issues and to the treatment of mental disorders. This site is consumer friendly and easy to use.
- National Mental Health Association This site is similar to the American Psychiatric Association's site and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill site, in that it focuses to a large degree on providing information about mental disorders and their biological basis and treatment. It also provides general information about mental health issues and the prevention of mental health problems.
- Psych Central This site is owned and operated by John M. Grohol, Psy.D. Dr. Grohol hosts weekly mental health chats online over the site and provides lists of news groups, mailing lists, and Web-sites related to mental disorders and mental health issues.
- Mental Health Net This site focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders and illnesses. It provides links to other sites that can offer assistance. The site also provides book reviews and medical news.
- Health A to Z This site acts as a search engine for medical sites. The thousand of Web-sties that it catalogues have been located and reviewed in most cases by medical professionals.
- Rx List This site was developed by a pharmacist in California and allows the user to look up a drug by either generic or brand name. Possible side effects are presented as well as clinical studies.
- New England Journal of Medicine This site is operated by the New England Journal of Medicine, one of the most read and most prestigious medical journals. You may access the abstracts or request full text of articles published in the Journal.
- The Whole Family This site offers advice from experts for parents and focuses primarily on the issues of marriage and parenting. This site also offers a regular newsletter by E-mail and the Family Fishbowl Magazine. This site addresses difficult issues such as divorce, step-parenting, and single parenting.

- Dimenet Network On the Dimenet Network, you can submit items for posting to net.hotnews by mailing them to: hotnews@dimenet.com. Dimenet website includes information about statewide independent living council activities and the activities of the National Council on Independent Living. The homepage for Dimenet also provides links and information about other organizations such as Mouth Magazine, Justice for All, Not Dead Yet, and Honor Role Radio. - Disability Rights Links A disability rights activist provides probably the best organized set of links to disability rights organizations, individuals, and agencies available on the web.
- NOD, the National Organization on Disability The organization promotes full and equal participation for American's 54 million men, women, and children of disabilities in all aspects of their lives. The site provides information and resources and news as well as links to other sites.
- Electric Edge (online edition of Ragged Edge Magazine The Electric Edge is an online addition of Ragged Edge Magazine. Ragged Edge is a successor to the award winning periodical, The Disability Rank. On the Ragged Edge website you will find the best of today's writings about society's "ragged" issues such as medical rationing, genetic discrimination, assisted suicide, long-term care, and attendant services. The Electric Edge "covers the disability experience in America - what it means to be a crip living at the end of the 20th century."
